Mary King: Beautiful Industry
Beautiful Industry features the work of artist Mary King that pays homage to the beautiful and decaying but once mighty, productive and noxious factories near Chicago and in Detroit. The paintings—simultaneously poignant and celebratory—show the feel of industry: the flames, the amazing clouds of steam, the remarkable structures, the air that makes your chest hurt, the swollen fish in a poison canal, the swampy area now replaced by pollution. Artist Gallery talk: April 5 at 6:15 p.m.
