Palais Royale

We recently visited the Palais Royale and were disappointed with the food & service. With all the hype and price... expectations were much higher than what we received. Service was slow and the food was luke warm. I am convinced we have had the same food from Gordons Food Service at a fraction of the cost.
It is a nice venue - but the food & service are sub par.

We hired Palais Royale for our wedding reception in June 2009. My husband and I are both Notre Dame grads, and we both work in client service-oriented professions. While we understand the wedding industry differs from typical event planning, we were "nickled and dimed" to no end. I would not recommend this location to another couple as we were disappointed with the service and value received overall. Day-of-event service was good, but it did not make up for over a year of dealing with an uncooperative venue. We were forced to accept a 17% increase in our food and beverage budget when they inflated the menu pricing twice over the 16 months we dealt with them. We received nothing in exchange for our disappointment. If you want to work with a vendor that is invested in your wedding and your day, look elsewhere. There are plenty of other nice venues to choose from in the area! We chose Palais Royale because they were able to easily accommodate our band, and of course the venue is beautiful. But in all, our time and expenses would have been better allocated to a venue that needed more decorations to beautify it, rather than dealing with the high prices and poor service at Palais. You can achieve more for the same amount of money elsewhere. We loved our wedding day due to the people surrounding us, but the Palais Royale staff's unwillingness to negotiate or work with us while planning the event outweighed the positives regarding the venue and service our guests received.
